There's no need to shell out tons of cash when you want to learn a new language. Find our our top 3 picks.
If you are interested in learning a language, but do not have the
time or money to study abroad right now, there are many free tools and
resources available online to help and give you a head start learning a new
language. Some of our favorites are the Bilingual America Free Spanish Learning
Pack, BKYI Software by Transparent Language (available in many languages), and
Visual Link Spanish 11 free Spanish lessons.
1. Transparent Language BYKI Software - BYKI stands for Before You Know It, and it delivers what the name promises. We have
used the BYKI Spanish and BYKI Chinese, and found the lessons to be relevant,
fun, and of great quality. You can download a fully working version for free,
and if you want to expand for more lessons, it will cost something. The free
BYKI software is really nice because it tracks your progress and remembers
which words and phrases you have trouble with or have not practiced in a while.
It also tests your ability to write the phrases in your target language, which
we find to be quite important for retention.
2. Bilingual America Free Spanish Learning Pack- A super
resource, and free to boot! This includes a book with tips about learning
Spanish, a 30 minute sample of The Real Spanish Path Verb Structure
Development Tool and Lesson One of both the Basic and Intermediate Levels of
the SpanishPower course. We have tested this out and it is a great system! Click
to get the Free Spanish Pack. For those interested in more Bilingual
America products, they offer a wealth of information,
SpanishPower courses, and even live Spanish tutoring over the phone.
3. Visual Link Spanish - They offer 11 free Spanish learning
sessions. Visual Link is a very popular program with the All Study Abroad staff
and our friends and family. You can download free lessons, and also receive a
Spanish dictionary and other resources.
